Monocot -

Monocot seedlings typically have one cotyledon, in contrast to the two cotyledons typical of dicots.  In monocots, the flower parts occur in threes or multiples of three, for example, three sepals, three petals, six stamens, and a pistil with three carpels. The corn seed is an example of a monocot.
